Rugged Laptops Hard Drives (Solid State Disks - SSD)
Rugged laptops, solid state disk (SSD) as hard drives instead of the usual conventional disks. Hard drives used in laptops, rugged not regularly drives with spinning disks. Solid state disks use non-volatile memory such as flash or volatile memory such as SDRAM.
Non-volatile memory SSDs retain memory even during sudden power failure, ensuring data retrievability, a good advantage if you rugged notebooks that you are operating in difficultSituations.
SSDs have no moving parts, they tend to be more than solid, and at the same time quieter than conventional hard drives. Another thing that are an SSD from the rest of the regular hard drives makes the price that is significantly higher than the others.
With an SSD is more secure from this perspective as a normal hard drive. A regular hard drive can be read only by vibration and shock protected by several methods such as wrapping the disk with a soft, thin, flexible, Jell-material. This material absorbs a large part of the shock induced by vibrations, drops, hits, etc.
Flash SSDs are extremely fast since these devices have no moving parts, so seek time, latency time (there is no read / write head to move) and other electro-mechanical delays inherent in conventional hard drives. They are also more rugged than hard disks and offer greater protection in hostile environments.
Flash-based means that Flash technology is used to delete Blocks of memory before writing to them. Solid state disks have have limited life on the fact that they remove a limited cycles.
Some features to recommend SSDs for use in rugged laptops, the fact that solid state disks can tolerate greater temperature fluctuations in the environment that does not heat, is completely silent, lighter and very low power consumption.
Due to the fact that with little power to SSD hard drive of choice for rugged notebooks, extending the> Laptop autonomy. Rugged laptops are often used outside the office, away from a power supply so that the battery life is a critical feature and use of solid state disks as hard drives was a wise decision.

| Review by D. Burrows (NORTH GEORGIA) 2010-03-08 So far I am quite happy with my new DV6-2170US. (During the process of making Office 2003 operational I was in... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Kort Kramer (SOUTH FLORIDA, USA) 2010-02-10 The HP Pavilion dm3 1130us (AMD CPU & ATI GPU model) is a good compromise between the portability of a netbook and the functionality of a full sized laptop. Technically in the "Ultra-portable/Thin & Light" category, I would say it is a netbook on steroids. I was looking for a portable computing solu... Read more reviews | ||

| Review by Boogaloo (USA) 2010-03-11 I chose this feature rich machine as offering more than any other when it is on sale. My primary use is business with occassional field trips, which could be done with aplumb with a slightly more dated dual-core CPU upwards of $200 less with better battery life. But, the sale price made it possibl... Read more reviews | ||
